The Board of Trustees of Columbus Montessori Education Center is pleased to announce that Jamie Gottesman has been named Executive Director and began her role today, July 1, 2014. Ms. Gottesman will lead CMEC in its efforts to achieve its mission, nurturing and developing the whole child through magnified learning and quality care a diverse community. She has more than 25-years of experience in education, including time as an Elementary Classroom Teacher, Director of early childhood programs and implementing statewide initiatives.
Chair of the Board of Trustees, Ryan Helon, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Jamie Gottesman to the Columbus Montessori community. She will be an effective leader and a passionate advocate for our Montessori programming. The depth and breadth of her experience coupled with her familiarity with Columbus Montessori and its position in the Central Ohio educational landscape are without equal.”
Most recently, Ms. Gottesman was Program Manager for the Department of Defense Demonstration Classroom at The Ohio State University where she developed online management and curriculum content to strengthen the professional growth and leadership skills of administrators and teachers working at child programs on military installations around the world. Prior to that, Ms. Gottesman was the Assistant Chief of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services’ Bureau of Child Care and Development where she developed and implemented nationally recognized statewide initiatives of First Steps, Ohio’s Infant and Toddler Initiative and Step Up to Quality, Ohio’s Early Childhood Quality Rating and Improvement System.
Ms. Gottesman also serves on the boards of Caring Communities: Birth to Three (CCB3), for which Columbus Montessori serves as a participating center, and the newly-formed Head Start Working Group to expand access to high quality comprehensive care for at-risk children and their families.
Ms. Gottesman took over the role from Interim Executive Director, Nancy DeRoberts-Moore. While Ms. DeRoberts-Moore will continue with us in order to provide for a smooth transition, we thank her for tremendous dedication and her remarkable support throughout this year and we are pleased to move forward, into our future, with Ms. Gottesman.
